the artist, Philip Beck



Philip Beck is an English artist and painter, working in oils. He lives part of the year in Somerset, England, and part of the year in the the Tramontana mountains of Majorca, Spain.


He has travelled and painted in Syria, Guatemala, India, Egypt, and many other parts of the world.


He paints in oil paints on canvas, board, and on prepared paper, and like most painters he also draws and sketches, using these works as the basis of his oil paintings. His subjects include both landscapes and still lives.


Living part of the year in the Soller Valley, near Deia, he is influenced by the spectacularly precipitous and varied Tramontana Mountains that surround him there. He has been painting for over 40 years, and has trained and worked with other painters over that time. He has exhibited a few times, mainly in Somerset.
