the artist, Philip Beck
Philip Beck is an English artist and painter, working frequently in oils. He lives part of the year in Somerset, England, and part of the year in the the Tramuntana mountains of Majorca, Spain.
He has travelled and painted in Syria, Guatemala, India, Egypt, and many other parts of the world.
His oil paintings are done on canvas, board, and on prepared paper. Like most painters, he also draws and sketches, using these works as the basis of his oil paintings. His subjects include both landscapes and still lifes.
Living part of the year in the Soller Valley, near Deia, Philip Beck is influenced by the spectacularly precipitous and varied Tramuntana Mountains that surround him there. He has been painting for over 40 years, and has trained and worked with other painters over that time. He has exhibited a few times, mainly in Somerset.Philip Beck has recently been making artwork of cut-paper, and digitally, on the iPad. Some of these appear in the slideshows, above.
